happy new year!

praise the Lord as we usher in the new year of 2009. As we gaze back to what we have achieved in the past year, let us set our sights more to the Lord as He guides us to paths unknown and uncharted territories and work on those we are familiar with.

Have you all had a new year resolution in mind? People do often say that resolutions are well.. made to break. If you once had that mindset and still do, it's a challenge to you. Make one right here, right now and try all your best to keep it. With a resolution you might just be able to find your path that He wants to lead you on.

For those loyally following this blog, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope that you will continue this tradition and don't stop. Do be encouraged to bring friends to see this too. Though it may not be much but sometimes we might just make it into a daily quiet time area where you can do your devotion anywhere you are. Amen!

Once again a blessed New Year to all!

Great is the Lord

Alas! Prayer came through and I am certain God's hand is at work again.

Sometime, making a right decision is very hard especially major ones. When we decide and eventually we see a breakthrough we tend to praise ourselves for making the right decision. I thanked the Lord that this time I really felt it wasn't any of my own effort, nothing at all. There is no credit I can ever claim, absolutely nothing!

I thanked the Lord for the changes and revival taking place in KCC Youth. It happened so timely at this time as we usher into a new year. So much is instored for the year and I am excited about it.

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.

Do not lose heart

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:7-10

It is hard to transfer what we've learned in theory into something practical, to get down what's in our head into our heart, especially when we are required to live it out. Our faith is a simple faith but require great deal of willingness to living it.

Do not give in when face with difficulty but press on!

Know your role and play it well

What is your role? You need to discover them.

If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership,
let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:6-8 (NIV)

Just about everyone has experienced being on a team where people had to take on roles that didn't suit them: an accountant forced to work with people all day, a basketball forward forced to play center, a guitarist filling in on keyboard, a teacher stuck doing paperwork, a spouse who hates the kitchen taking on the role of cook.

What happens to a team when members constantly play "out of position"? First, morale erodes because the team isn't playing up to its capability. Then people become resentful. The people working in an area of weakness resent that their best is untapped. And other people on the team who know that they could better fill a mismatched position on the team resent that their skills are being overlooked. Before long, people become unwilling to work as a team. When people aren't where they do things well, things don't turn out well.

Ending 2008

Approaching the last quarter of 2008 signify another year ending real soon. What's your plan? I have many. So many to think and pray about. There are so many planning on the way and each one require careful thought and constant prayer. Come to think of it there will be many sacrifices coming alongside with every of these plans. On my own I am truly limited. I need a team of good partners! Pray with me and pray for me!

Be a Nehemiah

Then I said . . . 'Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.' . . . So they said, 'Let us rise up and build.' Then they set their hands to this good work. Nehemiah 2:17-18

A city wall in ruins was a very bad thing in ancient days. It left a city vulnerable to both physical attack and hurtful ridicule from neighboring powers. In Jerusalem's case, the unrepaired wall also gave foreigners a reason to scorn God, whose holy city it was. And that is why Nehemiah wept, mourned, fasted, and prayed for several days when he heard the news of the condition of the wall, which had been destroyed and neglected for more than a century.

During the 120 years after the walls were torn down by the Chaldeans (2 Chronicles 36:19), generations of Jerusalem's people had looked at the ruins and done nothing. Maybe to them, rebuilding the wall looked like an impossible challenge, even though the city possessed plenty of workers. What the people needed was someone to rally them, plan their course of action, and take them through the rebuilding process. What they needed was a leader. They needed Nehemiah. Remarkably, it took the people only fifty-two days to rebuild the city wall. And they were able to do it because they had a great leader to navigate for them.
Will you be a Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem? This is my personal challenge to you. In whatever capacity you are, what we need is your willingness and heart to do the job.

Oh, Tuhan

Oh, Tuhan pimpinlah langkahku.

Oh Tuhan, terima kasih atas segala-galanya.

Son of encouragement

To be a Son of encouragement to others is the noblest service one can provide for kingdom's work. What I needed most in my most difficult moment were those few words of assurance I received from my fellow committee. Indeed it is more than words can say. Few words of encouragement can really provide one with confident, certainty of what's ahead and humbleness to depend solely on God. I am really glad today when Uncle Leong Yan challenged all of us. I am challenged, I hope and pray you are challenged too. Let's strive to rebuild KCCY together. With your help and mine, most importantly, with help from above, God willing, we will succeed.

God centered comradeship

Went to the zoo with the Sunday School today. Having spent a day with more than 35 young kids it's really tiring. Seeing them has given me a lot of new ideas and essentially put back some fire in me for the children and youth work. What I really needed now is a team of people who's like minded to pursue what God has called me into. I am certain that God's purpose is for the church and not for lone ranger. Practically working in a team for a common cause is fun and exciting. The God centered comradeship can really be the link and engine for every ministry.

Christmas isn't Christmas till it happens in your heart

Carolling from house to house, 'makan-makan', 'main-main', proclaiming joy and peace for He is the reason for the season, yea!

The big idea is to make this an event where all of us can have some fun singing and eating from house to house. Not expecting a top class singing carollers but simply a time of sharing Christmas together in a . I believed this going to be a memorable experience for many of our young ones.

Remember what we shared few days ago, building up the young ones? I'm really committed to make this the turning point for all of us. We really need to supplicate this to God through our prayer individually. Forgetting what lies behind and press on towards the goal set before us. That's exactly what we need to do. We need to pray for each other, for the young ones and for the ministry as a whole, for protection from rumours, for the activities we have planned, for support from one towards another, for God to raise committal young ones and for great awakening!

Consider it pure joy my dear brother and my dear sister when we faced trial of many kinds. Be courageous and be victorious in our walk in Him!

If I perish, I perish

"For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God...Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
We must act at all time with the assumption that He was handling the situation, only always taking care to obey instructions. He learned obedience, obedience unto death; and now as the Almighty, He does not ask us to be any weaker or any more foolish than He was prepared to be Himself; for the cross was both the weakness of God and the foolishness of Him"

I'm so glad to finally realize that If I perish, I perish. Death unto self but lives unto God. From small menial things to the task God set before us. How many times we might have forgotten not to depend on our own strength but entirely drawing from Him who gives us sufficient strength in our weakest moment.

I am deeply touched and utterly comforted, encouraged, challenged and truly blessed by your commitment and challenge. From the bottom of my humbled heart, thank you my dear sister and my dear brother for your sharing. You have lighten up my days and provided sufficient energy for me to press on. It's an answered prayer to me, no doubt it's God sent and it's pure comfort from above and that's all I need!

Ending here echoing Paul own words that has lifted me up and I prayed that it will do unto you as well; "I was in fact crushed, overwhelmed and desperate. I feared I would never live through it. I thought I would doomed to die and saw how powerless I was to help myself...but that was good, for then I put everything into the hands of God, Who alone could save me, for He can even raise the dead, and He did..."

Bible Quiz Coming Soon

Erm...I cannot describe what are the questions that I am about to give. It's not like in exam where the teacher tells you to read until this certain chapter. The Bible has a very wide range of topics and it's certainly looks weird if I just narrow onto one topic.

So as I've said earlier on, the Bible quiz has no specific topic. There are certain questions that are general and some are specific.

good movies

during the weekends i got the chance to watch evan almighty. For those that did not get the chance to watch it, it's a recreation of the story of noah's ark with a twist. The same, God told Evan to build an ark and all the animals are stored two by two. The rain came but it did not cause the flood but a dam that broke due to heavy water capacity. Evan and his family was staying there and so were the habitats of the animals and the ark save them.

God told Evan.. How to change yourself? One act of random kindness at a time. Notice if i write it as 1 ARK... Now that's something special. from that word ark it can mean that if you want to change yourself first start with an act of random kindness..

from the movie there's also a scene where God told evan's wife. Will God give you grace or a chance to show grace? Will God show you mercy or a chance to show mercy? These words are true to me as we all know that we always ask God for grace, mercy and self control but we always blame Him for not giving us any of that kind. Come to think of it, did God give you a chance to show mercy, grace and self control? Now, did He not give you what you want?

Hope this will spur you all readers to think deeper in your walk with Him..

Focus Focus!

All my life, I was in an all-girls school. It was rather difficult for me to communicate with the boys in my current school. Besides, by July I would be the only girl left in my class of Physics (which is absolutely absurd!). This was not fun.

I had friends telling me, they wanted a transfer to my class because of the excessive amount of boy classmates I had. Besides, they also told me I was "lucky". Come on. Coming to form six is where your focus should be on STPM and not the boys.

Yes, it is very tempting to start a relationship when you met him/her and feel that he/she is the one especially in a coed school now.

I'll say that we should all leave this all to God. He never lets things happen by chance. It's by His purpose and perfect plan for us.

Bottom line is: Don't only focus on studies la wei. Focus on God is much vital as He knows the best for us.

Food for Thoughts

I read this verse during my devotion which made me paused for a moment and to ponder on my commitment to Him. The verse is Matthew 15:8-9 which says:
"These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me,
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.." (also a quote from Isaiah 29.13)
This kind of people are what Jesus called hypocrites but it is targeted at the pharisees at that time.
Ignoring the pharisees, coming back to me I think this verse really me profoundly. Many times I believe I was merely offering lip services to God during worship session, singing for the sake of singing but far from Him. Do we sometimes (or most of the times) just offer lip services during worship just to add the intensity of sound during singspiration, not knowing what we sing or just sing for fun? Even worse, we believe we're worshiping Him in spirit and in truth while our lifestyle speaks otherwise. To me I find it very hard to sing praises to Him when I did bad things, for example ( example only!) watching pornography syok syok and later go to youth fellowship and sing a song of praise like "You are my all in all....Jesus,Lamb of God..Worthy is Your Name....". Is this right? Absolutely not! It's like you steal your dad's wallet and later go say "I love you, dad".
After a long discussion, my point is that our worship should reflect our lifestyle, showing that God is worthy to be praised after what He has done in our lives, changing us from inside out. If we knew we were sinning against Him all these while, ask God for His forgiveness and guidance of the Holy Spirit that we will sin less.Turn to the bible to seek His guidance in life.As conclusion Psalms 119:11 is essential for all Christian's spiritual growth:
"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."

success or holiness?

the MUET teacher today (english for people who's not yet in form 6) showed us a blog about a student. Girl M who got a band six which is the highest grade for english. That achievement is something that i admire but not the attitude of the one getting it.

Firstly, she bragged about herself being a 99% english speaker all the time. Ok, that's not good. NExt, she said she did not practise for the speaking session as she is a public speaker and debater. ok... then, she goes on to say she practiced with well-known speakers that took part in debates as well. Of course, when she described herself, she listed everything from being active in this that but.. she lacks something. The heart.

People tend to say that the higher educated the person is, the more mature he or she is. How wrong can that assumption be. From what i see, she's not showing me any maturity for her age. If i have to sacrifice my holiness for pride to get success, i rather not get success at all. it's not fitting for a believer of the Lord to act like this. You are educated to be better, not to be worse than before.

Point of the day :Are you wiling to sacrifice success when your holiness and well being comes into questioning?

Good Girl

My parents fetched me after frisbee. I was playing under the rain. Once I entered the car, my papa told me, "you shouldn't play under the rain. Get sick then you know". My reply was, "I won't la. I haven't play under the rain before. First time". My papa said "First time doesn't mean you won't get sick". Deep inside my heart I was thinking "Aiyah..won't get sick la".
My mom handed a towel she brought to dry myself in the car. Later on she asked me to change into my clean dry clothes. When I was changing into my pair of clean clothing, "Ha....Chew!!!!". "Oops..papa was right..." were my thoughts. Right away my papa said, "See. Sneezing already".
Okay okay. You were right. The whole night felt kinda cold. Had a mild runny nose. Now it felt much better.
